The Frankreichzentrum of the University of Leipzig is a multi-disciplinary platform for the cooperation with French and other francophone scholars and academic institutions in the field of graduate training and research. It contributes to the strenghtening and the intensifications of the University’s academic relations to French speaking countries and France in particular. Collaborations with and research on the francophone world is a unique characteristic of the Frankreichzentrum in Leipzig. The Frankreichzentrum was founded in 1993 at the initiative of the Rectorate of the University of Leipzig and became part of the Centre for Advanced Studies until 2008.
Through the Maison de la France Leipzig e.V. the Frankreichzentrum collaborates with partners in politics, economy and culture in the town and in the region with an interest in France and the francophone world.
